چکیده

A Digital Elevation Model (DEM) represents the height of a patch of terrain. Accuracies of DEMs vary depending upon the requirements of different applications. DEMs have been applied to a wide range of civil engineering and military planning tasks. Besides the conventional methods of creating DEMs, such as photogrammetry and manual field survey, airborne laser scanning and radar interferometry are new technologies capable of creating high quality DEMs in a cost-effective manner. This paper uses Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) GPS (with centimetre-level accuracy) to examine the quality of some DEMs generated by such means as photogrammetry, airborne laser scanning and radar interferometry. The results show that a DEM generated from airborne laser scanning has the highest accuracy with a RMS error of 0.09 ~ 0.3m. The RMS errors of DEMS derived by photogrammetric and radar interferometric means are 1.35 ~ 2.43m and 4.26 ~ 19.39m respectively.

Assessment of Srtm, Ace2 and Aster-gdem Using Rtk-gps

To date, the majority of digital elevation models (DEMs) are generated using photogrammetric methods. Recent remote sensing techniques, such as radar interferometry (InSAR), have also been used to generate high quality DEMs over a great area. Spaceborne high resolution DEMs with almost global coverage, such as SRTM, ACE2 and ASTER-GDEM, were made available to the public in the last few years. T...

Assessment of Multi-source Remote Sensing DEMs with RTK-GPS and Levelling Surveys

High resolution digital elevation models (DEMs) have been used in many applications such as civic planning, military mapping and navigation, natural hazard risk assessment, to name only a few. It has been a long history of using photogrammetry and dense ground surveys to draw the contour lines of the terrain and create the elevation model. Nowadays high precision DEMs with the vertical resoluti...

Unraveling uncertainties of water table slope assessment with DGPS in lowland floodplain wetlands

In our study, we analyzed the combined standard uncertainty of water table slope assessment done using differential global positioning system (DGPS)-based measurements of water table elevation and distances between measurement locations. We compared and discussed uncertainties in water table slope assessments done in various hypothetical environments of lowland floodplains (water table slopes t...

Quantifying rapid changes in coastal topography using modern mapping techniques and GIS

Innovative methodology based on a combination of Real Time Kinematic GPS (RTK-GPS), lidar, and open source GIS was developed to gain a better understanding of rapid changes in coastal topography. Improved spatial interpolation techniques were implemented to produce detailed topographic surfaces from lidar and RTK-GPS data. The methodology is demonstrated for two North Carolina areas: Jockey's R...

Evaluation of Multiresolution Digital Elevation Model (DEM) from Real-Time Kinematic GPS and Ancillary Data for Reservoir Storage Capacity Estimation

This study presents the estimation of reservoir storage capacity using multiresolution Real-Time Kinematic Global Positioning System (RTK-GPS) DEM, in comparison with ASTER and contour-derived DEM. Through RMSE comparisons of the elevation point uncertainty and error analysis, the results shows that the RTK-GPS DEM gave the best results for the reservoir capacity-area power curve estimation, de...
